Annual Scholarships

Altrusa International of Central Connecticut Scholarship

This scholarship is awarded to a graduating non-traditional student demonstrating exemplary community service who needs financial assistance to obtain a bachelor’s degree.

Beaulieu Manufacturing and Machine Technology Scholarship

This scholarship is awarded to students with a GPA of 3.0 or higher.

Innocenzi Annual Scholarship

This scholarship was established by Carolyn Innocenzi, evening coordinator of the Meriden campus, and Ken Innocenzi, MxCC Foundation board chair. It is awarded to one female student and one male student both from Meriden, with a preference given to students attending CT State Middlesex-Meriden campus, a GPA of 2.0 or higher and demonstrated willingness to succeed with financial need.

Center for New Media Annual Scholarship

This award is given to a student with a GPA of 3.0 or higher who is majoring in new media production or communications. It may go to a new, returning or graduating student. Preference is for the receipient to be involved in campus activities or clubs, unless working while attending.

Charles and Rachel Wiltsie Scholarship

This scholarship was established by Chuck Wiltsie, longtime former board member of the MxCC Foundation, and his wife, Rachel. It is presented to an entering or returning student, motivated to succeed, and clear about how this scholarship will help to achieve success. The recipient must demonstrate financial need and maintain a GPA of 2.5 or higher.

Dean Emerita Adrienne Maslin Scholarship

This scholarship was established by the Student Senate in honor of Adrienne Maslin, Dean of Students Emerita. It is awarded to a graduating student transferring to a four-year institution with strong evidence of participation in college activities and a GPA of 2.5 or higher.

Elizabeth R. Wagner Scholarship

This scholarship was established for a student pursuing a career in law enforcement as a criminal justice major with a GPA of 3.0 or higher.  A non-traditional student is preferred. Recipient must be a U.S. citizen and resident of Connecticut. Preference given to students who are currently working or performing volunteer work in the community.

Eriksen Family Scholarship

This scholarship was established in 2021 by the Eriksen Family. It is awarded to a full- or part-time, continuing or graduating student who wishes to pursue a bachelor’s degree. This award is intended to provide an ongoing opportunity for the student to continue their education. Preference is given for the arts, including graphic design and media, but is open to any program of study.

Follett Scholarship

This scholarship is awarded to a new or returning student with a GPA of 2.0 or higher, with priority given to those who are working while pursuing their educational goals. 

Gandhi Annual Scholarship

This scholarship is funded by CT State Middlesex neighbors and friends at the Connecticut Valley Hindu Temple. It is awarded to an entering or returning full-time student with a diverse background and experiences and who demonstrates academic excellence. 

Gene Haas Foundation Scholarship

This scholarship is awarded to a new or returning student enrolled in manufacturing technology or engineering and who demonstrates academic stability and strong financial need.

Greenberg-Hilsdon Family Annual Scholarship

This scholarship is awarded to a new or continuing female student with financial need, a minimum GPA of 2.5, and enrolled in business administration, accounting, computer science or a STEM field.

Hernandez Family Scholarship

This scholarship is awarded to a teen mother with no age limit, who is a continuing or graduating student with a GPA of 2.5 or higher. Preference is given for degree-seeking students, but certificate or Wallingford students also eligible.

Hugh and Judith Cox Scholarship

Hugh Cox was an MxCC Foundation corporator and former board member as well as a former trustee of the Connecticut Community Colleges board. Hugh, now passed, and Judith Cox are proud alumni parents. The scholarship is awarded to entering or returning students with preference given to those planning to enroll in nursing, radiologic technology, ophthalmic design and dispensing, physical or biological sciences.

John T. and Jane A. Wiederhold Foundation Scholarship

This scholarship is awarded to a veterinary technology student who has successfully completed all program admission prerequisites, has a minimum GPA of 3.0 and is enrolled in at least six credits.

Joyce C. Teefey Memorial Scholarship

This scholarship is awarded to a student in good academic standing and in financial need.

Judith and Robert Walsh Scholarship

This scholarship was established by Judith and Robert Walsh and is awarded to a student who demonstrates the drive, initiative and commitment to be successful.

Lisa Massita Scholarship

This scholarship is funded by the Student Senate in memory of Lisa Massita, former Senate president, who passed away in 1998. The scholarship is awarded to a returning or graduating student who demonstrates an outstanding commitment to the college and maintains a GPA of 2.5 or higher.

Mayor’s Scholarship for Middletown

The Mayor’s Scholarship is funded by the Office of the Mayor, City of Middletown. It is awarded to a full-time entering or returning student who is a graduate of a Middletown high school (Middletown, Xavier, Mercy or Vinal Tech) with a GPA of 3.0 or higher. Preference is given to students enrolled in the criminal justice or human services programs with career goals relating to public service.

Middlesex United Way Women’s Initiative Scholarship

This scholarship is awarded to a new or continuing female student residing in Middlesex County majoring in a STEM field (science, technology, engineering or math) with a GPA of 2.5 or higher. Preference is given to a full-time student who is a single parent and/or Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed (ALICE).

Miguel Jurado Memorial Scholarship

This scholarship was established in memory of Middlesex student Miguel Jurado, who passed away in 2021. It is awarded to a returning, full- or part-time student enrolled in accounting or business administration who is a resident of Meriden with financial need.  The recipient must maintain a GPA of 2.5 or higher.

MILE Scholarship

The MILE (Middlesex Institute for Lifelong Education) scholarship is awarded to returning, non-traditional students with a GPA of 3.0 or higher. Academic achievement and financial need are also considerations.

Nihla and Bob Lapidus Foundation Scholarship

This scholarship is funded by the family foundation established by Bob Lapidus, founder of Bob’s Stores, and his widow, Nihla. They are awarded to entering or returning students (of any age) who are highly motivated to succeed. Funds awarded may be used for tuition or any other area related to a Middlesex education.

Patrick Campbell Memorial Scholarship

This scholarship was established by Sandra Campbell in memory of former student Patrick Campbell, who passed away in 2015 after finding his niche in the manufacturing program at Middlesex. It is awarded to a non-traditional student, older than 22 years of age, who wishes to use Middlesex as a vehicle to start a new career or change vocation.

Paul L. Jones Foundation Scholarship

This scholarship is awarded to new or returning, full-time students with a GPA of 3.0 or higher in laboratory technology, medical technology or any other field related to the preservation and restoration of health in human beings.

Peach Pit Foundation Fund Scholarship

This scholarship is awarded to a new or returning student who is currently enrolled full or part time. Applicant must have a GPA of 2.5 or higher and demonstrate motivation to succeed.  May be used toward tuition or other education related expenses.

Phi Theta Kappa Scholarship

This scholarship is awarded to members of the Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society. Consideration is based on contribution to PTK and Middlesex, and is presented to returning or graduating students demonstrating academic achievement and financial need. 

PMA Manufacturing Scholarship

This scholarship is awarded to a new or continuing student in the field of manufacturing. Students must be employed by a Precision Manufacturing Association (PMA) member, in good academic standing and a GPA of 2.5 or higher.

Radiologic Technology Judy Wallace Scholarship

This scholarship is awarded to current students or students who will be enrolled in the radiologic technology program. Preference is given to students who are single parents.

Record-Journal Foundation Scholarship

This scholarship is funded by the charitable foundation of the Meriden Record-Journal. It is awarded to a non-traditional student in the Meriden or Wallingford area enrolled in at least nine credit hours per semester, demonstrating academic accomplishment, and a GPA of 2.7 or higher.

Rotary Club of Middletown Scholarship

This scholarship is awarded to a returning student who is a resident of Middletown, Portland, Durham or Higganum, based on academic achievement, who would otherwise be unable to attend college.

Rowland and Ruth Beaulieu Business Administration Scholarship

This award was established by Suellen Beaulieu in memory of her parents, Rowland and Ruth. It is awarded to a returning business administration student with a GPA of 3.0 or higher.  

Sarah Cavanaugh Memorial Scholarship

This scholarship is awarded in memory of Sarah Cavanaugh, daughter of Middlesex employee, Michael Cavanaugh and his wife Sharon. It is awarded to a new or continuing student majoring in the fine arts field with preference given to the art studies or fine arts associate degree programs, in good academic standing, and with a GPA of 2.5 or higher.

STEM Scholarship

This scholarship is awarded to a new or returning student who is registered for at least 6 credits, enrolled in a STEM-related program and demonstrating financial need.

Stephanie Nelson Scholarship

This scholarship was established in memory of Middlesex student Stephanie Nelson who was also an intern at Wesleyan University’s Center for the Arts and passed away unexpectedly in 2014. This scholarship is awarded to a student with a good GPA, who has financial need and a desire to do a broadcast communications and multimedia internship at Wesleyan. This is a preference, but not an absolute restriction, if a student with this specific desire is not found.

STRIVE Scholarship

This scholarship is awarded to new or continuing students demonstrating financial need with an unusual or extraordinary circumstance or a defined barrier and who are highly motivated. Preference also given to first generation students

Susan M. Smart Memorial Scholarship

This scholarship is funded by the Student Senate in memory of Susan Smart, former Senate vice president who passed away in 1989. It is awarded to a returning or graduating student who demonstrates academic achievement, financial need and is involved in student activities.

Tom Melbert Annual Award in Humanities

Recipient must be enrolled in English studies or another humanities area and have an interest/love of literature, painting, the arts or travel.

Town Fair Tire Scholarship

This scholarship is awarded to a new or returning student demonstrating academic success.
