Endowed Scholarships

Herbert Levine MD Endowed Scholarship

This scholarship is awarded to a graduating student with a love for liberal arts, a commitment to higher education beyond an associate degree, and with a GPA of 3.7 or higher.

Beaulieu Endowed Scholarship

This scholarship was established in 2000–2001 by Suellen Beaulieu in memory of her parents, Rowland and Ruth Beaulieu. It is awarded to a continuing student in business administration with a GPA of 3.0 or higher who needs financial aid to continue their education.

Philip and Amy Wheaton Endowed Scholarship

The scholarship is funded by the family and friends of the Middlesex’s founding president, Philip Wheaton, and his wife, Amy, a former chair of the MxCC Foundation Scholarship Committee. It is awarded to a returning or graduating student with demonstrated financial need.

Edie Fuld Endowed Scholarship

This scholarship was established in 2001 by parents and friends of Edie Fuld to honor her and recognize the compassion, energy and enthusiasm she showed to students and colleagues while serving as the Middlesex coordinator of student activities. It is awarded to a continuing student who has demonstrated interest in human services—especially student services, and has a GPA of 2.5 or higher.

Boris Burack Endowed Scholarship

This scholarship was endowed in 2001 by the MxCC Foundation to honor the first chair of the Middlesex English Department. It is awarded to a continuing or graduating student with a GPA of 2.5 or higher who needs financial aid to remain in college and/or continue his/her formal education at a four-year institution.

Robert A. Chapman Endowed Scholarship

This scholarship was endowed in 2001 by the MxCC Foundation to honor the second president of the former Middlesex Community College. It is awarded to a continuing student who has distinguished himself/herself through academic excellence, unusual efforts, or community/college service. Financial need may be a deciding factor.

Dave Champion Endowed Scholarship

Established by Jayne and Jeffrey Champion, this scholarship is awarded to a second-year returning veterinary technology student who demonstrates determination and hard work.

Maslin Endowed Scholarship

This scholarship is awarded to any age, gender, race or major. Students who have a minimum of 30 credit hour transfers and those graduating. They should have a minimum 2.8 GPA and contributed to the campus by volunteering or participating in clubs continuously throughout enrollment.

Deans Endowed Scholarship

This scholarship was endowed in 2001 to honor deans who have made outstanding and substantial contributions to the campus. It is awarded to a continuing student based on the equally weighted criteria of academic performance, attainment of at least 20 credits at Middlesex, financial need and service to the campus.

Faculty Endowed Scholarship

This scholarship was endowed in 2001 to honor faculty who have been exemplary educators. It is awarded to a continuing or graduating student who has distinguished themself through academic excellence, made a contribution to the college community, and needs financial aid to continue their education.

Founders Endowed Scholarship

This scholarship was endowed in 2001 to honor those whose foresight and labor led to the creation of Middlesex Community College and to recognize all who have helped nurture that original vision of a college. It is awarded to an outstanding continuing or graduating student who needs financial aid to continue their formal education.

Alumni Endowed Scholarship

This scholarship is awarded to an entering or returning student who demonstrates financial need to continue education, and earned a GPA of 3.0 or higher.

Martha DePecol-Sanner Endowed Scholarship

This endowed scholarship was established in 2003 from a bequest of Martha DePecol-Sanner, an extraordinary Middlesex educator who was well respected and highly regarded by students, faculty and staff. This scholarship is awarded to non-traditional, returning students with an interest in allied health.

Catherine L. Dennis Endowed Scholarship

This scholarship was endowed in memory of Catherine by her husband, George, and their adult children in 2004. She believed deeply in the value of education. It is awarded to a woman committed to earning a bachelor’s degree in social work or human services who may be financially unable to do so without this scholarship.

Gandhi Endowed Scholarship

This scholarship is awarded to entering or returning students with diverse backgrounds and experiences, who demonstrate academic excellence and are enrolled full-time. Financial need is preferred, but not required.

Eames Family Endowed Scholarship

To be awarded to returning or graduating students of any academic field of study who demonstrate financial need (common sense based as opposed to rigid FAFSA based criteria), and who hold an average or above average cumulative GPA, and who have been active volunteers/leaders while at Middlesex and who are committed to continuing their education beyond Middlesex, with the ultimate goal of earning a bachelor’s degree.

Dean Richard Muñiz Endowed Scholarship

This endowed scholarship is supported by the family of former Middlesex Dean of Continuing Education, Richard M. Muñiz. It is presented to a new or continuing Hispanic student, matriculated in a degree program on a full- or part-time basis, with a 3.0+ GPA.

Raymond S. Robinson Endowed Scholarship

This scholarship was established from a bequest of Hazel Robinson of Portland. It is awarded to a new or returning student with a strong work ethic and determination to succeed. This award should be split to assist multiple new or returning students with financial need.

Darrell D. and Julia Stark Endowed Scholarship

This scholarship was established to honor Darrell D. Stark, World War II veteran and former POW, and to further his legacy of overcoming hardship through love and service to others; and to honor Julia Stark, Darrell’s wife of 68 years, who was a World War II veteran of the Women’s Army Corp. The recipient must be an entering or returning student veteran with a GPA of 2.75 or higher, have financial need, enrolled in at least 9 credits, have a commitment to overcoming hardship, and serve others in their life. Also, eligible students must read Darrell’s memoir “My Journey as I Remember” and write a four- to five-page essay addressing how these quotations of Mr. Stark apply to them: 1) “I started to heal when I began to feel that I was helping someone else,” and 2) “Hardships have given me an appreciation for learning, a sense of confidence and an ability to adjust to difficult and trying conditions, as well as a determination to overcome them.”

Sarah Cavanaugh Endowed Scholarship

This scholarship is awarded in memory of Sarah Cavanaugh, daughter of Middlesex employee, Michael Cavanaugh and his wife Sharon. It is awarded to a new or continuing student majoring in the fine arts field with preference given to the art studies or fine arts associate degree programs, in good academic standing, and with a GPA of 2.5 or higher.
